What Is Telehealth Therapy?
Also Called Virtual, Online, Telephone/Video Conferencing Therapy
Telehealth Therapy (also called Online, Virtual Therapy) refers to mental health or counselling services provided via the internet, audio/video, or phone rather than in-person (Psychology Today, 2025). This method of therapy takes advantage of the ability to access service from the comfort of home, a favourite location, while traveling or living/working in remote locations.
Your Clinician will provide you with access to a secure/encrypted app that can be used across desktop, laptop and other devices to facilitate sessions using audio and video technology . Your clinician will also be able to share resources with you via this app just as you would in a traditional session.
Studies indicate that Telehealth Therapy (Online, Virtual) can be as effective as in-person (NIH, 2022;CMAJ, 2024).
